The "Gadegalu" is the most important Avadha from the chapter of Viswamigalu. It is a part of Viswamigalu chapter which has 57 avadhas. In this "Gadegalu" there are eight fold arguments which are interdependent with each other... It opens with an invocation to Siva who is praised as 'preserver and destroyer'. The chapter then describes the enjoyment of the beings created by Him. Next, it mentions about His power and energy that perpetuates them all living beings and explains how He causes suffering in those who try to hold on to it and yet causes pleasure for those who renounce all actions... In the "Gadadhanu" there is a discussion about the nature of Ganapati deity who is mentioned as adha whose nature is described as 'sagar mallaku' means having all qualities..... There are four Avadhas in the "Gadegalu" and every one of them has different characteristics. In the first "Gadegalovidaargalu", it mentions that Siva abides in a place that is not known to anyone here, and this place abides in all beings and is not separated from them...... The second argument of this chapter goes as follows... Haragda – "... the creator is the supreme and all others are related to one another. It has been seen that there is a Siva in all entities and that all the living entities and the deity himself are similar and parallel to each other. Therefore, Siva is worshiped with respect by those who know this." Ganapati Gadegalu – This particular adha describes how Ganapati does not have any qualities except 'mallikuntha'. Here it says that, "Siva abides in a place that is not known to anyone here, and this place abides in all beings and is not separated from them"... (It is mentioned that this place or sattva is not separate from the living entities and Siva abides in it and it is not known to anyone!!!) In this chapter, the elephant deity is described as 'akambadha' which means besides being a god, he also has characteristics. In this chapter, it says that if you create a god with all the qualities of materials, he will be 'kambadha' but if you create a god without any of the qualities then that god will have 'achinaachikam' or characteristics. It mentions that in creation, Siva created Ganapati without any of the qualities and therefore Ganapati has all characteristics. It means, in all beings, there is a god in them and this god is not different from the being. In short, it says that if you want to worship God then you have to worship the being from which the god has been created. In this chapter there are eight arguments. In this chapter, it has been described that the worshipper of Siva should be accepted as a Brahmana by Siva himself and also by all people around him... The subject matter language language of this particular adha is quite unique because it contains a mixture of Samskrta and Kannada words... This chapter is divided into 2 "avadhas", each having 4 argumsnts. cfa1e77820
